The San Francisco Giants have selected Grant McCray in the 2019 MLB first-year player draft. McCray was the No. 87 overall pick and hit .477 with 35 RBIs and 30 runs scored in 28 games for Lakewood Ranch High School.

 McCray was at the 2019 Scout Day Top Prospect List. In the PT Event, he showed a loose, low effort swing and made consistent hard line drive contact and ran 60-yard dash in 6.7 seconds. Grant also threw 92 miles from outfield. 

The Florida outfielder was a three-sport athlete in high school and had a commitment to play baseball at Florida State University. The 18-year-old left-handed hitter signed for $697,500 ($689,300 slot value).
